Important NDIS Pricing Updates: What You Need to Know for Your Plan (Effective July 1, 2025)
Here at AkinCare Support & Services, we believe in empowering our participants with clear, timely information. As your trusted NDIS partner, we want to ensure you're fully informed about the upcoming NDIS pricing changes, which come into effect on July 1, 2025. These adjustments are part of the NDIA's ongoing efforts to create a more sustainable, equitable, and transparent scheme for everyone.
We understand that changes can sometimes feel a bit daunting, but rest assured, AkinCare is here to help you navigate these updates smoothly. Our goal is to ensure you continue to receive the high-quality, personalised support you deserve.
What's Changing and What Does It Mean for YOU?
The NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits (PAPL), previously known as the Price Guide, are being updated with a few key shifts. Here's a breakdown of what's most relevant to you as a participant:
1. Core Supports are Increasing – Good News!
What's Happening: Funding for your Core Supports, such as personal care, daily living assistance, and community participation (the services AkinCare specialises in!), is set to increase by approximately 4.36%.
What it Means for Your Plan: The great news is that your NDIS plan will be automatically adjusted by the NDIA in mid-July to reflect this increase. This means you generally don't need to do anything to receive this uplift. This increase helps to cover the rising costs of wages for our dedicated support workers, ensuring we can continue to attract and retain the best team to support you.
2. Adjustments to Allied Health Therapy Pricing:
What's Happening: There are some changes to the maximum prices for certain allied health therapies. Some, like physiotherapy, dietetics, and podiatry, will see a slight reduction in their maximum hourly rates, while psychology services will see a small increase. The aim here is to align NDIS pricing more closely with general market rates for these services, ensuring value for money across the scheme.
What it Means for Your Plan: If your plan includes funding for these therapies, it's a good idea to:
Discuss with your current therapists: Ask if these changes will affect their service delivery or pricing for you.
Connect with your AkinCare Support Coordinator: If you have one, they can help you understand how these changes might impact your current therapy arrangements and explore options if needed. Remember, our Plan Coordination service is designed to help you maximise your funding and connect with the right providers.
3. Plan Management Funding Changes:
What's Happening: The NDIA has made some adjustments to plan management funding, including the removal of the "critical establishment" fee and rural and remote pricing differences.
What it Means for Your Plan: If you utilise a Plan Manager, these changes may impact how they bill for their services. It's always a good practice to touch base with your Plan Manager to understand any adjustments to your service agreement.
4. Clearer Rules for Providers:
What's Happening: The updated PAPL provides clearer instructions for how providers can bill for various services, including travel, administration time, and cancellations. There are also new guidelines for non-face-to-face work (like report writing).
What it Means for Your Plan: These clearer rules aim to increase transparency and consistency across the NDIS, ensuring you receive fair and understandable billing for the supports you receive. AkinCare is committed to adhering to all NDIS guidelines to ensure you always receive the best possible service.
